I have an Idea, but… (horse related)?

I came up with a fabulous idea last night, as part of the line of horse blankets, saddle pads, quarter sheets, halters, etc and matching gear for humans. One of the things I came up with I know could sell, and there’s nothing like it on the market. I want to give the idea to Ariat or some other company so they can make them and sell them and such, since I can’t. Is there anyway I could get some money out of it too? After all, it is My idea!

Horse question:
What amenities do you like in your saddle pads?
What changed would you make to show shirts?
Would you buy breeches that wer’nt tan or white for schooling if they were
a good price and made out of quality materials?

I am in your situation now, but further along in development.
I invented a totally new horse training device, something that has never been done before, and to get it patented, tested, researched, get funding from a venture capitalist, marketing, a factory to make the idea (and you need to make BIG orders for them to take you seriously), finding good reputable, big and established distributors worldwide to buy your stock, trade shows to showcase your idea and get the smaller tack to start making orders……..whew, it’s a long hard road!
I am past most of the hurdles now, my product will launch in spring next year….. I have been at this for 2 years now and I am BROKE!!!!
I will start to see money finally in spring, but it will take a couple of years to recoup my invested money and begin to see a profit.
When it comes to clothing, blankets and halters, unless you are creating a unique design in how the garment or halter is actually made, you cannot get a patent on just changing up colors in a design that is currently in use.
Patents are tough, you can get into 100′s of thousands of dollars for a worldwide patent (which incidentaly only protects you for 7 years), if someone else copies your design and only changes it 10% from your specifications, your patent is null and void in protecting your design.
Incidentally, Ariat is footwear….. if you go to sell your design to a major company….be VERY careful with who you approach, don’t be surprised if you get turned down only to find a very similar idea floating out there in the marketplace the following year by (surprise) the very company you initially approached.
I am not trying to turn you off the idea, so if I sound negative, I don;t mean to be, it’s better if you can do this for yourself, but as I have learned. you need serious patience and oodles of money toinitiallyy invest, a great sales personality to get people interested in buying your idea.
