making a foal blanket ?
hi my mare is due to have a baby in march or at the latest April and there is still a lot of snow on the ground and the barn is a little bit warmer but im still worried that it will be to cold out for it. so i want to make my own foal blanket that maybe can be adjustable because the vet says that its a small baby so far but the mare is like 15.3 and dad is like 16hh horse so also what size wold you recommend? please try to show me a pattern and not one that i have to wait for or buy and i am capable of making one i have the sewing machine and the type of fabric i need.
well suitability does have some good designs but they dont exactly show you how to make the blankets-its more of buying them. But if you are looking for just a basic soft, warm blanket that would be good I would suggest a regular sewing pattern if that makes sense and I have heard of the danger of foal blankets but if you just have a strap around the barrel,girth, or chest area lightly tied it will be safe. Regarding size I would suggest 36-45 inches or a size medium small, but its hard to judge how big the foal will be. haha sorry I cannot help more I am really not an expert in this area but I hope you find what you are looking for and the best of hope for the foal and mare!
