2 Common Kinds of Horse Rugs

These coverings are made specifically for your horse to wear to stay warm, but they are not all the same. Of all the different types of horse rugs, the fly rug or fly sheet is probably the most common. This is probably due to the fact that it is very simple and is used mainly to protect your equine from the rain and wind. It is usually made from a thin sheet of plastic or cloth mesh material and is not ideal for extremely cold weather, but does offer some warmth for perhaps cooler summer evenings or during transport through a cooler climate as well as protection from insects that bite and sting.
