Which Horse Toys To Buy

Although your horse might be large and powerful, he still needs some nice toys to play with. They need toys to play with just like humans do. You’ll find that there are so many different horse toys to choose from. I wrote this page to help you find some appropriate toys for your equine friend.

The first thing you must know is that when horses are kept in a stall for lengthy periods of time, they need to have some toys to keep them busy. Your confined horse’s health depends on you getting him or her some good toys to play with. If you do not get a toy for your horse it will end up getting bored and creating bad habits for itself. You’ll find that it may be very hard to break bad habits that have been formed.

Since you now know that your horse needs some toys, we’ll talk about some of the toys you can get him or her. Some common toys consist of scratching posts, amusement balls, and treat toys.

Toys that store food within them are known as treat toys. The horse will have to work with the toy to get the food out of it. He or she can spend hours digging out the tasty treats that are located inside them. Just be careful not to give them too many of these toys because they will not want to eat their regular feed if you do.

Amusement balls can really consist of anything that will get your horses attention. You want to build or buy something that your horse will enjoy pushing around. This can be as elaborate as a large store bought gentle noise maker or a milk carton with some modifications.

Scratching posts consist simply of rope and a soft base to tie the rope around. They provide a safe place for your horse to scratch. You can make one of these with some rubber and a nice rope or buy something a little more sturdy online.

What information do I need to complete a horse idenification book?

FOr 4-h next year i am going to make a horse idenification book for all my horses, but i dont know what all i need….
I know you need
- The horses registration papers
- Conformation shots of both sides and front and back
-All the marking
-Scars and cowlicks
What other important things do i need to add ?

In addition to those things, take close-up photos of small identifiers like scars and cowlicks. If your horse has a microchip or brand, make sure that information is recorded in your book. I also keep all my shots/wormings/coggins records and the most recent health certificate (if you have one – I haul my horse across state lines so I need to get them occasionally), insurance information, breeder contact info (if I have it) and emergency contact information for you, your family, your boarding barn (if your horse is boarded) vet, and farrier. Basically, you want all of your horse information in one single location, so you know where it is if you need it. You can also include a training section to record what you do with your horse every day, and what your training goals are. If you’re showing your horse, keep track of class placings. You can also include a section of photos of the different things you do with your horse.
