The 43rd Annual Arabian and Half-Arabian National Horse Show will be held in Tulsa, OK October 23rd to 31st. This is the best of the Arabian horses that have qualified for the national competition. With over 1,800 horses participating in various disciplines. A few of the Equestrian divisions include English, Western, Pleasure Driving, Hunter, Sidesaddle, Reining, Jumping, and of course the favorite, Mounted Native Costume. The costume class represents the original attire worn by the Bedioun Tribe that rode these beautiful animals across the deserts.

The Arabian horse is very versatile as well as loyal to his owner. They have a prominent dish and beautiful wide set eyes and long, arching necks. The trainers and amateurs that attend this show have put in long hours preparing for this event.

Their is a lot of preparation that the trainers do before the show. The trainers haul their horses from all over the country with their tack, saddles, blankets, and grooming equipment. Most of trainers have large trunks or shipping cases for all their equipment to protect it while it travels. Many also bring elaborate store front type decorations for their arrangement of stalls and general area. This make the event facility very colorful and with the hospitality provided by all creates a pleasant, friendly environment to enjoy the show. All the horses clipped and bathed and even the hoofs are polished. They also bring in furniture, flowers and decorations to be displayed in the horse barns. It is a beautiful site to see. Many evenings there are barn parties where spectators can get up close and personal with these magnificent animals. Along with the horse show the US Nationals offers a large array of shopping which includes, equestrian apparel, fine art, furniture, gifts, jewelry, saddles, tack, and more. This is definitely an event to see.

I’m having trouble at the Horse Farm?

i ride at this horse farm and mostly all the kids who ride there (ages 13-17) own there own horses and ride everyday. They have also been riding there for a while. I have only been riding there for a year and i have a quarter lease on a horse. Anyway they all seem to have their own little clique because they own horses and ride and show regularly. I just want to fit in but i cant because im only there twice a week and i really want to be friends with them. i feel the only way i can do this is to buy my own horse (which is somthing ive wanted for a long time!) You see at the farm i ride at all the boarders horses are on one side of the satbe and then theres an indoor ring in the middle and on the other side is the lesson horses, so whenever i go i feel excluded from everyone and my tack trunk is on the other side too so im never near any kids. How do i go about making friends?

i know how you feel. i’ve been there. just remember that you all love horses. go up to a person who looks nice and start up a conversation. ask about their horse and how long they’ve been riding. its up to you to make friends. if you’re having a problem, ask one of the other riders that is very good at it to give you some advice. the hardest thing is breaking the ice.

i used to ride in a group lesson and a new girl joined up. she was really quite and more beginner than all of us. i wanted to start a semi-private lesson and couldn’t find any of my friends to do it. she finally broke the ice and volunteered to do it with me. we have been inseperable best friends ever since. just be comfortable. if they’re good and gentle to their horses, you should make friends just fine.
