Debbie Platero is a Navajo jeweler Steamboat, Arizona. The granddaughter of legendary Navajo silversmith Kenneth Begay, Debbie Platero has big shoes to fill. Debbie filled the shoes beautifully in his own contemporary Native American jewelry, which are special adaptations of his drawings impeccable grandfather.

Debbie was born silverware on the Navajo reservation in 1957. As a child and eldest grand-son, Debbie has been blessed with the opportunity to spend a good amount of time with Kenneth Begay, really get to know and learn the art of jewelry from him. At the age of 12 years, Debbie Platero had learned to make their own beads silver entirely by hand, a traditional sustained until today. Debbie remembers her grandfather stressed technical perfection and use of clean lines all the time by teaching traditional techniques such as tufa casting. Particularly influenced by eddies famous Kenneth Begay, representing the "water of life," Debbie loves to re-create their own jewelry.

When Kenneth Begay died in 1977, Debbie received her treasure Platero tools, including many of the stamps, which is still used today. Since the beginning of instruction Debbie stayed with her, still proudly creates her jewelry by hand. Living in a former property of his grandfather, Debbie still digging expressed her jewelry Toba tuff your own backyard, and carefully welded and silver sand to make their beads.
